V2G Approved in South Australia!
[Dec 22, 2022] JET Charge, along with their partners Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors Australia, have been working hard to bring Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology to Australia. After three years of work, they have received approval from South Australia Power Networks to install Wallbox Quasar chargers in South Australia. This technology allows electric vehicles to both charge from and supply energy to the grid. It is currently only available to be used with Nissan LEAF models, and Mitsubishi Outlander and Eclipse Cross plug-in hybrids. JET Charge has also been working on trials with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors Australia to ensure the consumer experience is optimised.
This news means that homeowners and commercial property owners in South Australia can now access V2G technology to charge their electric vehicles and use the energy stored in their vehicles to power their homes and businesses, or export the energy to the grid. This could potentially allow them to reduce their electricity costs and increase their energy efficiency. Additionally, V2G technology could play an important role in the transition to renewable energy sources as it could help to balance the grid and provide a reliable source of energy.
